SPõõõõ-õ type BALL-ROLLING MILL FOR CROSS WEDGE ROLLING

PURPOSE

SPõõõõ-õ type cross wedge rolling mills are intended for rolling billets in a hot, half-hot, and warm state. The cross wedge rolling mills operate in an automatic mode while performing the rolling functions and allow to manufacture products with the diameter up to 150 mm and length up to 1000 mm.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION of a basic model of SPõõõõ-õ type CROSS WEDGE ROLLING MILL

The wedge rolling mill contains two parallel bases 1 and 2. The bases are connected by means of three pairs of levers 3, 4, and 5.

Levers 3 and 4 form a parallelogram with bases 1 and 2, and levers 4 and 5 form a trapezium with bases 1 and 2. The levers are connected with bases 1 and 2 by means of axles 6 and eccentric 7. Eccentric 7 is connected with motor 8 and rotation angle sensor 9. Mounted on bases 1 and 2 there are slides 10 and 11 that are connected with hydraulic drive cylinders 12 and 13.

Mounted on slides 10 and 11 there are dies 14 and 15, chute for feeding the initial billet and chute for removing the rolled billet 17, device for scale blowing off 18.

Mounted on body 1 there are chutes 19 for waste removal. The guide of base 1 is protected against the scale with movable body 20.

During the work process the initial billet is fed onto chute. Under the influence of cylinders 12 and 13 slides 10 and 11 start moving from the opposite directions to each other. Dies 14 and 15 are impressed into the initial billet and deform it. Deformed billet 22 is delivered to chute 17 and is next removed from it automatically.

Removal of billet 22 and feeding of the initial billet take place simultaneously while slide 10 is stopped in the initial position.

Regulation of diametrical dimensions is performed by the operator through control panel 23. The panel display contains information about the billet diameter. If necessary the operator activates motor 8 using the control panel and sets the required dimension. Motor 8 is activated while slides 10 and 11are returning to the initial position that is why adjustment takes place without shutting down the mill.

The system of regulating diametrical dimensions serves also for unwedging the mill in the case of the mill’s emergency shutdown which can take place for example due to power outage.

The control system allows to work in the automatic and manual modes according to a program. The work in the automatic mode is conducted without the operator. The system contains blockings that protect the mill against malfunctions while working without the operator’s presence.

ENGINEERING

The supply of cross wedge rolling mills and dies provides for the following:
• mounting and adjustment of the mill at the customer’s enterprise;
• training of the customer’s personnel in mill’s operation techniques;
• training of the customer’s personnel in dies adjustment techniques;
• transfer of dies drawings;
• transfer of mill’s operating manual;
• Training of the customer’s specialists in methods of dies drawings design.

WARRANTY

The equipment is provided with 1 year of warranty. Supply of spare parts and dies is guaranteed for the period of 10 years.

SERVICING

Servicing of the equipment or a part of it is ensured for the entire operation life.

PERSONNEL TRAINING

Training of personnel in the rules of operating cross wedge rolling mills is performed.

Training of personnel in the methods of wedge dies drawings design and dies adjustment is performed.
